Scarlet Hollow

Scarlet Hollow is the kind of game people reach for when they want story, mood, and conversations that can branch in visibly different ways. By our assessment, it stands out most as an episodic horror adventure with a lot of text, character detail, and a strong sense of small-town unease. Its strength is the writing: that sort of game lives or dies on voice, and Scarlet Hollow is known for leaning hard on choices, relationships, and the slow reveal of what is wrong under the surface. The trade-off is pace, because this style can spend a long time in dialogue before it gives you any real mechanical payoff. Compared with action horror, it is much more about reading people and steering conversations than about reflexes. That makes it a fit for players who enjoy narrative-first games and do not mind waiting for tension to gather, but not for people who want constant movement or combat. The text is the main event, and the rest follows from that.
