Savage Lands suggests a survival game first, with hostile nature, scavenging, and the usual pressure of making something out of very little. By our assessment, that makes it easy to picture but also easy to confuse with the rest of the genre unless the systems are distinctive. The useful part is the premise: rough terrain, scarce resources, and the sort of play where every tool matters.
