STARWHAL turns local multiplayer into a silly duel of spear-shaped narwhals, and that odd premise is exactly what makes it easy to explain. By our assessment, it is strongest as a couch game: simple movement, quick rounds and a readable goal make the whole thing click fast once a group starts laughing at itself. The trade-off is that the joke and the mode are doing most of the work, so there is not much long-form depth hiding underneath. In practice it is all about short bursts, bad aim, bumping into friends and trying to line up the spear before someone else does. Against heavier party games it is lighter and less strategic, but also more immediate. STARWHAL is what you reach for when the room wants quick chaos and no one wants homework.
