SIMULACRA 2

SIMULACRA 2 plays like a phone-screen mystery, where messages, photos, calls, and app-like fragments have to be searched for meaning. By our assessment, the interesting part is how it uses a familiar smartphone interface to build its horror and investigation around everyday digital clutter. That format is easy to understand and gives the game a contemporary texture, but it also means the whole thing depends heavily on the strength of its writing and the exact way clues are arranged. In practice, the pleasure is in scrolling, checking threads, and following a trail that feels built out of ordinary media rather than big set pieces. Compared with traditional horror adventures, SIMULACRA 2 is more intimate and screen-bound, which is its identity and also its limit. It is best for players who like phone-as-interface storytelling; people wanting action or broad exploration will probably bounce off it. The number in the title is just part of the name, and the game itself is the kind of small-scale digital thriller that lives or dies on how convincing each text message feels.
