SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics is the sort of compilation people open for a shelf of old console games in one place, not for a single unified remake. By our assessment, its strength is simple access: a large batch of Mega Drive and Genesis titles, usually with the extra convenience of save states, rewinding, and modern display options. The limit is also familiar to anyone who uses these collections: the appeal depends on how much you care about the individual games, because the wrapper does not magically modernize them. In practice it feels like a front end for browsing older releases, choosing one, and dealing with the quirks those games already had. Compared with standalone remasters, it is broader and less polished; compared with emulation on its own, it is more packaged and less flexible. SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics is mainly for players who want legal, tidy access to a lot of SEGA back catalogue at once, and the menu is where much of the work happens.
