Rovio Classics: Angry Birds is the old sling-shot puzzler in its most straightforward form: drag, release, and try to collapse the structure with the fewest shots. By our assessment, that simplicity is exactly why it still works, because the feedback is instant and the levels are easy to understand at a glance. The downside is that there is not much mystery once the basic arc is known, so the appeal rests on repeated precision rather than surprise. In practice it is a quick game for short bursts, with the same satisfying snap of physics that made the series famous. Compared with larger mobile games, it is lighter and less bloated; compared with endless clones, it has the original rhythm and timing. The Astrina catalogue files it under Games.
