Roguelands

Roguelands is a side-scrolling action game built around wandering, looting, and restarting after the usual roguelike setbacks. By our assessment, its appeal is in the broad mix of combat, crafting, and light base-building rather than in a single sharp gimmick. That also leaves it a little loose: the game can feel busy before it feels focused, and the grind will not suit people looking for a clean, tightly directed run. In play it seems to ask for patience with repeated loops, inventory fuss, and the slower rhythm that comes with gathering gear and resources. Compared with more polished roguelites, it looks more like a large DIY sandbox than a trimmed arcade challenge, and that is the point of it.
