Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is a side-scrolling action game with a strong comic-book feel and a lot of shooting. By our assessment, its main draw is the goofy hardboiled-war premise and the way it dresses combat in a very specific cartoon style, which gives it more personality than many straight action games. The downside is that this kind of game can start to feel repetitive once the basic run-and-gun loop settles in. In practice it is about movement, cover, firing, and occasional puzzle-like interruptions rather than deep systems, so it plays more like a stylized action romp than a tactical shooter.
