RoShamBo

RoShamBo is built around the old rock-paper-scissors idea, so its appeal comes from quick reads, prediction, and the tiny bluff that sits between two players. By our assessment, the main strength of a game like this is that it gets to the point immediately and does not need much setup. The downside is obvious too: once the basic pattern is known, it has a very short ceiling unless the designer adds extra layers. In play, that usually means fast rounds and a lot of mind games for very little mechanical complexity. Compared with larger competitive games, it is tiny and sharply focused, which can be refreshing or thin depending on taste. RoShamBo is really about the simplicity of the contest itself, and it does not try to be more than that.
