Riptide GP: Renegade is a hydrojet racer for people who like short, noisy races with a lot of momentum and some slipperiness in the handling. By our assessment, its strongest point is the sense of speed: the jetski-style craft, boosts, and tight water tracks give it a cleaner arcade feel than a lot of heavier racing games. The trade-off is that it stays in that lane and does not offer much beyond racing laps, time chasing, and repeated mastery of tracks. In practice it tends to feel like a quick burst rather than a long climb, with water physics doing a lot of the work. Compared with big car racers, it is smaller and more direct, and compared with simulation racers it asks far less patience. Riptide GP: Renegade suits people who want a fast arcade racer with clear handling, and it leaves little room for anyone looking for vehicle depth or broad variety.
