Retrowave leans on the look and pulse of neon arcade driving, where style is the main hook and the mechanics usually serve that mood first. By our assessment, that makes it attractive as a compact nostalgia piece, but also limits how far it can go if the driving model is thin. The appeal is immediate: glowing roads, synth-heavy atmosphere, and the kind of loop that is easy to understand at a glance. The downside is that a game built this way can feel light once the visual idea has done its job. It sits closer to the arcade end of racing than to simulation, so the expectations should be simple and direct. Retrowave is for players who want atmosphere and a short, clean run, not a deep garage of systems or a strict driving study.
