Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6 pushes the series toward big, branchy set pieces and constant movement, with multiple campaigns and a heavy emphasis on action. By our assessment, it has plenty of content and spectacle, but it also stretches the Resident Evil formula until the survival-horror side is hard to feel for long. The downside is not subtle: when everything is in motion, the tone can blur and the game can feel more like a shooter with horror dressing than a tense survival game. In practice, it asks for a lot of running, shooting and quick swaps between characters and scenarios, so the pace rarely sits still. Against earlier Resident Evil entries, it is louder and broader, while later series entries would move the balance again. Resident Evil 6 is for players who want a big action game with the franchise name on it, not for those who want the old slow dread.
