Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5 pushes the series toward co-op action more than survival horror, and that shift is the whole point of the game. By our assessment, it is at its best when enemies come in waves and two players can split attention between aiming, covering, and scraping through resource limits. The drawback is just as plain: the survival side is thinner than in the scarier entries, so the mood is less tense and more action-driven. In practice it is about shoulder-to-shoulder shooting, inventory shuffling, and using the game’s set-piece encounters as a rhythm rather than a puzzle. Against earlier Resident Evil games it sits on the action end of the spectrum, and against later co-op shooters it still feels like a bridge from one era to another. The name contains the number 5 as part of the title, and that is all the catalogue note adds here. It is a solid action game for people who want the series in a louder form, not the purest choice for someone looking for old-style horror.
