Reigns: Three Kingdoms

Reigns: Three Kingdoms takes the familiar swipe-left, swipe-right format and uses it for court politics, alliances, and the constant balancing act of ruling. By our assessment, that marriage of a minimal interface with Three Kingdoms material is its real strength, because decisions come fast but still carry the feel of consequence. The trade-off is that the format stays deliberately spare, so the game is more about reading situations than about building complex tactics. In practice it plays like a chain of quick judgments, each one nudging the realm in a different direction, and that makes it easy to dip into but also easy to misread if you want deeper control. Compared with heavier strategy games, it is lighter and more playful, and that is exactly why it works.
