Red Death

Red Death is one of those names that can point in several directions, so the real question is what kind of game it is once the screen is in front of you. By our assessment, that uncertainty is also the limit: with no durable public substance to lean on, there is no honest way to claim a clear genre strength or a particular audience. As a piece of game naming, it has strong atmosphere, but atmosphere in the title is not the same as a strong design. In use, the best you can say is that it probably asks the player to find out what the game wants rather than letting the title do the work. Red Death is too opaque on its own to compare fairly with better-known horror, action, or survival games.
