Rebel Inc: Escalation

Rebel Inc: Escalation asks for the sort of attention that grand strategy fans usually enjoy: budgets, stability, regions, and the ugly trade-offs of counterinsurgency. By our assessment, its strongest point is how clearly it turns that messy subject into a playable management game, with decisions about roads, governance, security, and reconstruction all pulling against each other. The downside is plain enough: it is stressful by design, and it can feel punishing when one part of the map unravels faster than the rest can be fixed. In practice it has the tense rhythm of trying to hold a fragile situation together while the numbers keep shifting under your feet. Against other strategy games, it sits on the more modern and scenario-driven side, closer to a focused simulation than to empire building. Rebel Inc: Escalation is for players who like systems with real pressure, and it is not a relaxed sit-back game.
