Really Big Sky

Really Big Sky is a shoot-’em-up that chases speed, color, and constant motion, so the player spends most of the time dodging, firing, and trying to keep the screen readable. By our assessment, its strength is the sheer energy of that arcade loop: it wants quick reflexes, pattern recognition, and a tolerance for visual chaos. The limit is that this kind of game lives or dies on whether the movement feels crisp enough and the on-screen clutter stays fair, because there is no room for slop. In practice it is the sort of game where control and survivability matter more than story or variety. Against other shmups, it sounds like a bigger spectacle than it is, and the real job is still surviving the next burst. Really Big Sky is best for players who already like score-chasing arcade shooters; it will not persuade someone who wants a calm, exploratory flight. The action is all in how well you can keep your place in the storm.
