ReCore: Definitive Edition

ReCore: Definitive Edition stands out as a sci-fi action game that mixes platforming, shooting, and a companion-rigged adventure around a ruined world. By our assessment, the best thing about it is the feel of moving through hostile spaces with a robot partner at your side, because the game leans on traversal and combat more than on big story speeches. Its downside is that the structure can feel uneven, and the scavenger-hunt style progression is not always as smooth as the movement itself. In practice it is a game of jumping, grappling, and fighting in short bursts, with the kind of stop-start rhythm that asks for patience between stronger moments. Compared with broader open-world action games, it is more focused and a little stranger, and that narrow focus gives it character. It is a better fit for players who want a compact adventure with machines and movement than for anyone looking for a sprawling system-heavy world.
