Ravensword: Shadowlands

Ravensword: Shadowlands is one of those mobile action RPGs that tries to look larger than its budget, with a third-person sword-and-magic setup, an open world, and the usual loop of fighting, looting, and moving from one quest marker to the next. By our assessment, its best trait is the straightforward fantasy wandering: you can ride, explore, and poke around caves without the game asking for much ceremony. The downside is that it is an old-school, rougher kind of open-world RPG, so animation, combat feel, and general polish matter more here than ambition. In practice it is about accepting a simpler version of that fantasy rather than expecting the density of a bigger console RPG. It sits closer to a scrappy portable adventure than to a modern blockbuster, and that is exactly where its limits show. The game is for people who want a compact open-world sword game and do not mind some stiffness in the movement and fights.
