Ratten Reich

Ratten Reich looks strongest as a grim real-time strategy game with a dieselpunk rat-and-mouse war front, where the appeal is in building, positioning, and surviving pressure rather than in flashy spectacle. By our assessment, it works because the premise is plain enough to read at a glance and strange enough to carry a whole campaign of skirmishes and base management. The trade-off is obvious: this kind of strategy asks for patience, unit control, and tolerance for a rough edge, so it is not for anyone who wants instant clarity or a light evening. In play, the genre usually means watching lines, resources, and momentum all at once, with less room for improvisation than a looser tactics game. Ratten Reich sits closer to other dark strategy projects than to action games, and that makes its mood part of the mechanics. It is for people who want pressure, faction friction, and a setting that does not feel polite, and it will not do much for someone hoping for speed and comfort in equal measure.
