RUSSIA BATTLEGROUNDS

RUSSIA BATTLEGROUNDS is a battle royale shooter, so the whole appeal is the usual survival loop of landing, scavenging and trying to be the last one left. By our assessment, that gives it a clear job and a clear audience on paper, but the genre is crowded enough that presentation and map feel have to do a lot of extra work. The downside is equally plain: if the gunplay, movement or server feel are not distinctive, there is little room left for the game to stand apart. In practice this sort of game lives or dies on pacing and the little decisions between fights. Compared with the giants of the genre, it has to earn attention with identity rather than just the format. RUSSIA BATTLEGROUNDS is for players who want a straightforward battleground loop and do not need the genre to reinvent itself each round.
