By our assessment, its appeal is the sense of wandering through a place that feels wrong before anything obviously attacks, which is a strong starting point for this kind of game. The downside is that liminal-space horror can live or die on pacing and imagination; if the encounters are thin, the mood has to carry most of the load. In practice these games are usually about slow movement, looking closely, and waiting for the environment to turn on you. Against louder horror games, it is more restrained and more dependent on tone than on action. Project Liminal Redux fits players who want unease and careful exploration, not constant shocks, and it needs that quiet to keep working.
