Press Any Button is built around a very simple joke: the game asks for input before it really starts behaving like a game. By our assessment, that kind of design can be funny or clever in small bursts, because it plays with the language of menus, prompts, and player expectation. The limit is obvious as well, since a one-note premise has to earn every minute after the first surprise. In practice these games live or die on timing, restraint, and whether the gag keeps changing shape instead of repeating itself. It sits in the space between meta-comedy and tiny puzzle game, not in the lane of a long, systems-heavy release. Press Any Button will appeal to people who enjoy brief concept games; anyone looking for depth will run out of road quickly.
