Precipice of Darkness, Episode Two keeps the Penny Arcade adventure format focused on jokes, light combat, and puzzle-solving rather than on deep systems. By our assessment, it works best for players who want a story-driven episodic game with comic writing and a brisker pace than a long RPG. Its strength is the mix of dialogue, simple battles, and point-and-click style progression; the trade-off is that the combat and structure are fairly modest, so it is not aiming for mechanical depth. In practice it feels like moving through scenes, talking to odd characters, and clearing small obstacles more than mastering a complex build. Compared with bigger adventure-RPG hybrids, it is leaner and more plainly comic.
