Portal Knights

Portal Knights mixes light action, crafting, and blocky building, so it is aimed at players who want a gentler survival game than the harsher names in the genre. By our assessment, its clearest strength is the friendly loop of gathering, making gear, and stepping into new islands without much friction. The trade-off is depth: the combat and building are simple, and the world is more about pleasant progression than surprise. In practice it plays like an approachable co-op sandbox with RPG bits attached, not a heavy survival sim. It sits between Minecraft-style building and a more guided action-adventure, with the combat and crafting staying easy to read.
