Planet's Edge

Planet's Edge asks for patience, because it belongs to the old school of party-based computer role-playing games and does not hide that fact. By our assessment, its strength is the mix of exploration, team management, and tactical fights, which gives it more shape than a plain dungeon crawl. The downside is just as clear: the interface and pacing are the kind that can feel stiff now, especially if someone expects modern guidance or constant clarity. In play, that usually means notes, careful movement, and a fair amount of trial and error while a small group of characters gets shaped over time. It sits in the same broad family as other early PC RPGs rather than as a streamlined action game, and that puts a premium on attention more than speed. The name carries a slightly forgotten-ambitious feel, which fits the reputation of many such games from that era. Planet's Edge is most at home with players who like slower, older computer RPG structure and do not mind a rougher edge.
