Patrician IV

Patrician IV is a trading and economy game for players who enjoy hauling goods between ports, watching prices, and building up a commercial network in the Hanseatic world. By our assessment, its main strength is the merchant-side loop: routes, profits, warehouses, and city influence give it a clear identity that many strategy games only sketch. The downside is that this is a numbers-first kind of game, so the pace can feel dry if someone wants battles or a stronger story. In practice it means checking markets, planning shipments, and letting the economy do the heavy lifting, which can be oddly absorbing once the system clicks. It sits between trade simulation and management strategy, closer to spreadsheets with ships than to empire war games, and that is exactly why it has a niche following. Patrician IV suits people who like commerce and logistics more than combat, and it asks for patience with menus and repeated trips across the map.
