Path of the Abyss

Path of the Abyss sounds like a compact dungeon-crawler for people who like turn-based movement, grid-based fights, and slow build-up more than spectacle. By our assessment, its appeal is the familiar loop of mapping out a dangerous space, managing resources, and deciding when to push deeper or back off. The trade-off is that this sort of game lives and dies on repetition, so its ceiling depends on whether the run-to-run structure stays interesting enough. In practice that means careful clicks, steady pace, and a lot of attention to positioning rather than fast reflexes. It sits alongside other indie dungeon crawlers and labors under the usual problem of the genre: if the enemy sets and progression do not stay varied, the whole thing can feel samey. The name fits the mood, but the game still needs more than mood; it needs sharp systems and enough texture in the floors themselves.
