Pagan: Absent Gods

Pagan: Absent Gods lives in the uneasy space between dark fantasy card play and a head-to-head strategy game, so it asks for patience more than reflexes. By our assessment, its main strength is the idea of hidden information and asymmetric sides, which can make each match feel like a real duel of planning. The downside is that this kind of design can be opaque at first, especially if a player wants the rules to hand everything over quickly. In practice, it is the sort of game where learning the card interactions and timing matters more than flashy action. Compared with simpler digital card games, it aims for more tension and bluffing, but it also demands more attention from the start. Pagan: Absent Gods is best for players who like reading an opponent and living with uncertainty, and less suitable for anyone who wants an easy entry or a fast casual match. The game’s value sits in the mind game, not in spectacle.
