Overture

Overture is the kind of game that asks for a bit of patience before it starts showing what it wants to do. By our assessment, that usually means a smaller, more focused action or adventure project rather than a huge system-heavy release, so the real question is whether its basic loop stays interesting once the first novelty passes. Its best case is a clear structure and a direct pace; its weaker side is that a narrow design leaves little room to hide if the content is thin. In practice, games like this can feel neat and concentrated, but also short on spare parts or side systems. It sits in the middle ground between a simple indie idea and a more fully built commercial game, which is often a useful place but not always a memorable one. Overture is for players who like compact designs and do not need a lot of extra noise around them.
