Out of Ammo

Out of Ammo is about putting troops and weapons into a small battlefield, then trying to survive the fight from a close, hands-on perspective. By our assessment, its real strength is the mix of strategy and movement: it wants quick decisions, some spatial sense, and the willingness to keep adjusting when the line breaks. The ceiling is easy to feel, though, because a compact combat game can only carry so much variety before repetition shows. In practice it is the sort of game where every mistake is visible immediately, which makes victories feel earned and losses feel sharp. Against bigger military strategy games it is more focused and less elaborate, and against pure shooters it asks for more thinking. Out of Ammo suits players who like tactics they can touch, but not people looking for deep campaign systems.
