One Way Heroics

One Way Heroics turns the whole adventure into a race against a wall of doom, and that pressure is what makes it memorable. By our assessment, it is a roguelike for people who like fast decisions, scrap-by-scrap resource use, and the feeling that each step forward matters. Its best trick is the one-way scroll of the world, which keeps forcing movement and makes hoarding pointless in a very clean way. The downside is that the pressure can become relentless, so the game gives little comfort if you want slow exploration or long planning sessions. In play it feels like making do with whatever the map and your inventory hand you, then hoping the next choice buys a little more time. Compared with sprawling roguelikes, it is much leaner and more urgent, with less room for wandering. The challenge is part of the charm, and the title’s idea is carried through all the way to the end of the run.
