Of Orcs And Men

Of Orcs And Men stands out by putting two fantasy species at the center instead of the usual human hero path. By our assessment, that premise gives it a sharper personality than many big-budget role-playing games, and it lets the story lean on force, bitterness, and uneasy alliances. The downside is that this kind of game can feel heavy and linear, especially if you want open-ended party building or a broad world to wander. In play it usually means squad combat, character progression, and a lot of talking and setup between fights. Against the genre as a whole, it is more interested in a specific point of view than in letting the player roam everywhere. Of Orcs And Men is a better pick for people who want a fantasy role-playing game with a different angle, and less so for anyone chasing pure freedom or a large, flexible sandbox.
