Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus

Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus is remembered as a characterful puzzle-platformer that mixes stealth, timing, and awkward little bits of rescue work. By our assessment, its big strength is how much personality it squeezes into a side-scrolling game: the animation, the weird industrial world, and the constant sense that one careless step can unravel everything. That also points to the downside, because the control style can be demanding and the whole thing is built on patience more than speed. In practice it feels like solving a series of tense little problems while trying not to break your rhythm. It sits among the better-known Oddworld games and still stands out for its strange mood rather than pure accessibility. People who enjoy methodical platforming and inventive level obstacles will find the most here, while anyone looking for a loose, fast platform game may bounce off it.
