Obduction

Obduction is a first-person puzzle adventure for people who want to poke at a strange place and slowly understand how its systems fit together. By our assessment, its strongest point is atmosphere: it spends real effort on alien spaces, readable machinery, and the feeling that the world has rules waiting to be decoded. The downside is that this kind of mystery can stall if the player is not enjoying careful exploration and backtracking. In practice it asks for patience more than reflexes, and the satisfaction comes when a locked door or broken device suddenly makes sense. It sits in the tradition of Myst-like adventures rather than action puzzles, so the pace is deliberate and the emphasis is on observation. Anyone wanting constant momentum will bounce off it; anyone happy to think their way through a place will find the shape of it appealing.
