ORION: Prelude

ORION: Prelude is a co-op action game built around shooting waves of dinosaurs and handling the loud, messy side of sci-fi monster combat. By our assessment, its main strength is the simple arcade-style idea of dropping players into a chaotic fight and letting the weapons, movement, and enemy rush carry the session. The downside is just as plain: once the novelty of the premise wears off, the game has to lean on repetition, because the loop is narrow. In practice it feels like moving fast, firing often, and trying to keep the screen under control while creatures keep pushing in. Compared with more elaborate shooters, it is lighter on story and systems and more interested in immediate spectacle. ORION: Prelude is for people who want a straightforward dinosaur-slaying diversion rather than a deep campaign, and that narrow ambition is exactly where its ceiling sits.
