Nexomon: Extinction

Nexomon: Extinction is a monster-catching RPG for players who want the old Pokémon-style loop without pretending it is doing something radically new. By our assessment, it is good at the familiar pleasures: collecting creatures, building a team, and moving through a turn-based campaign with a clear, readable rhythm. The honest limit is that this kind of game lives or dies on how much patience you have for repetition, because the structure is built on roaming, battles and gradual collection. In practice it feels tidy and direct, with the comfort of a genre piece that knows its own rules. It sits in the same broad space as other creature-collecting games, but its appeal is mostly in giving that structure on its own terms rather than rewriting it. Nexomon: Extinction is for players who want that loop in a leaner form, and it is less attractive if the appeal of the genre is surprise.
