Moonbase Alpha

Moonbase Alpha is a co-op space-simulation oddity about keeping a lunar outpost functioning while the game’s own systems keep things awkward and busy. By our assessment, its charm comes less from polish than from the specific little jobs it asks for: moving around in low gravity, fixing broken equipment, and coordinating with other players under pressure. The downside is that the same harshness can make it feel clumsy if the group is not in the mood for it, because the game leans on communication and patience more than elegance. In practice it is more about managing tasks on a cramped base than about cinematic space fantasy, and that narrower focus is what sets it apart. Compared with bigger sci-fi games, it is small, strange, and very much about the process.
