Moon Hunters is built around replaying short runs, so it appeals most to people who like action-RPG structure, party play, and seeing how a character's legend changes from one attempt to the next. By our assessment, its best idea is that the same journey can produce different outcomes and different versions of the story. The catch is that this makes the game feel lighter in direct combat and more dependent on repetition than on one long campaign. In practice it plays like a compact co-op or solo adventure with a lot of recombination rather than deep systems.
