Modern Fear

Modern Fear fits the compact end of horror games: it is for players who want tension, not a huge rules load. By our assessment, its strength is the directness of that idea — the name promises unease, and a game built around fear can work well when it stays focused on mood, timing, and pressure. The trade-off is obvious too: this kind of game lives or dies on atmosphere, so if the scares or pacing are thin, there is little else to lean on. In practice that usually means careful movement, watching for danger, and a steady sense of being on edge rather than long systems to master. Compared with big horror or action titles, it likely sits closer to a lean, concentrated experience than to a broad one. Modern Fear will suit people who want a simple horror premise and do not mind a narrow ceiling.
