Master Levels for Doom II is for players who want more Doom II maps rather than a new game. By our assessment, the draw is simple: more old-school shooting, more fast routes through rooms, and more of that classic pressure to keep moving while enemies fill the screen. The limit is equally plain, because it is an add-on pack built from level design, not a fresh reinvention of the formula. In practice that means familiar weapons, familiar pacing, and the same harsh, angular feel that fans of the original game usually expect. It sits closer to a map set or expansion than to a sequel, and that is exactly the point. Master Levels for Doom II is mainly for people already at home in Doom's style, not for anyone looking for a modern shooter with new systems.
