Manhunter makes sense when a group wants tense cat-and-mouse play rather than a big rules load. By our assessment, it is usually at its best when players enjoy stalking, hiding and reading each other’s moves instead of chasing constant action. The downside is that this kind of game can lean on table talk and bluffing, so it feels flat with people who want direct combat or clear-forward progress. In practice it is the sort of title that turns on attention to small tells and timing. Compared with broader action games, Manhunter sits closer to deduction and pursuit than to spectacle.
