Mandew vs the Colorless Curse seems built for players who enjoy compact platforming with a retro flash and a playful, slightly odd tone. By our assessment, its main appeal is the clean, direct movement loop: jump, dodge, learn a pattern, move on. The limit is the same one many small platformers face, because once the tricks are understood there is not much room for surprise. In practice that usually means short stages, tight controls, and a lot of repetition in service of learning the layout. Compared with bigger platformers, it is more modest in scope and less interested in spectacle.
