Mad Max

Mad Max is all about carving a life out of hostile empty roads, fuel scarcity, and scrap-metal improvisation. By our assessment, its strongest side is the atmosphere of driving, ramming, and stripping wrecks for parts until the car feels like the real character. The downside is that the open-world structure can settle into a grind of repeated fights and upgrades, and the story never aims as high as the setting’s best images. In practice it is a mix of vehicle combat and third-person brawling, with more time spent maintaining the war rig than anyone expecting a simple action game might want. Against other licensed action games, it is better at mood and road warfare than at memorable plotting. People who like convoy chases and mechanical tinkering will find a lot to work with; anyone wanting a deep story should look elsewhere.
