Mad Father

Mad Father asks the player to move through a gothic house, solve simple environmental puzzles, and keep up with a story that leans on family horror and unease. By our assessment, it is a fit for people who like indie RPG Maker horror that is more about mood and creepy reveals than about complex systems. Its strength is the compact, readable setup: rooms, notes, and encounters are easy to follow, so the game gets to the point quickly. The downside is that its mechanics are plain and its scale is small, so it does not have much room to stretch if you want depth or challenge. In play it feels intimate and a little old-school, with that familiar top-down pace and a lot of walking from one unsettling scene to the next. Compared with bigger horror games, it is lighter and more straightforward, and that makes it a neat entry point rather than a long obsession.
