MachineCraft

MachineCraft sounds like a building game first, and that is the right way to read it: the appeal is in assembling systems, shaping production, and watching parts feed other parts. By our assessment, that kind of sandbox is strongest when it gives the player room to tinker, because the fun comes from making a machine work rather than from a story wrapper. The trade-off is that this genre can become fiddly and opaque, especially when the interface or recipes start asking for careful memory. In practice it is the sort of game where a small mistake in layout can ripple through the whole setup, which is satisfying for methodical players and tiring for everyone else. Compared with lighter crafting games, it probably aims for more structure and less cosy building. MachineCraft should suit people who enjoy sorting systems and watching a contraption finally click into place, not people who want a relaxed pace.
