MOTHERGUNSHIP

MOTHERGUNSHIP turns the first-person shooter into a loud machine for building absurd guns, and that construction gimmick is the whole point. By our assessment, it is strongest when it lets you snap together barrels, magazines and other parts into ridiculous firearms, then throw those inventions into enemy-filled rooms. The downside is that the joke and the loop can wear thin if someone wants a cleaner, more grounded shooter; it is more about chaotic experimentation than precision shooting. In play it feels busy, noisy and slightly improvised, with a constant urge to see what the next weapon layout will do. Against standard run-and-gun shooters, MOTHERGUNSHIP is more playful and more custom-made, but also less elegant and less serious. It is a good fit for players who enjoy tinkering and heavy combat, and a poor fit for anyone who wants restrained gunplay or a neat tactical rhythm.
