Lords of the Fallen

Lords of the Fallen is for action-RPG players who want heavy melee combat, stamina management and a gloomy fantasy world wrapped around a tough boss-driven structure. By our assessment, its best moments come from the weight of its attacks and the feeling that every opening has to be earned. The trade-off is that this kind of game can become exhausting, because the same stamina bars, backtracking and repeated deaths are part of the design rather than a side effect. In practice it asks for concentration, timing and a willingness to learn enemies the hard way. Compared with faster hack-and-slash games, it is slower and more defensive, and compared with the most famous soulslike names it carries more of a rough-edged, uneven reputation. It rewards players who like deliberate fights and dark fantasy sets, while leaving little room for casual wandering.
