Little Misfortune

Little Misfortune uses a child’s-eye adventure game to make discomfort feel polite on the surface and upsetting underneath. By our assessment, it is strongest when it mixes dark humour, pointed narration, and simple choice-based play, so the player spends as much time listening as solving. The art style is soft and cute, which makes the story land harder when it turns meaner or sadder. The limit is that the interactivity is light, so anyone expecting deep systems or tricky puzzles will find it closer to an interactive story than a full game of mechanics. In practice it moves with dialogue, small decisions, and scenes that are more about tone than challenge. Compared with other narrative indie games, Little Misfortune is less about branching complexity and more about voice and mood.
