Liquid Pinball

Liquid Pinball sounds like a mash-up, and that usually means the whole game depends on one physical idea carried hard enough to stay interesting. By our assessment, a pinball game lives or dies on feel: ball movement, table layout, and how clearly the rules can be read in motion. The weak spot is obvious too, because pinball-style games can get noisy and repetitive if the table does not keep offering new shots or surprises. In play, the attraction is the bounce, the timing, and the quick correction of mistakes, all of which are more about reflex than planning. Against real pinball or fuller arcade games, it would have to win on table design rather than on breadth. Liquid Pinball sounds like a focused arcade piece, and that is also where its ceiling would sit.
